Dylan Thomas Live Project at USW 2013

Selected poems features the portrait of Dylan Thomas. The reason for this was that the publication does not contain any particular story but a selection of the best poems. I though that giving this book cover a grey colour palette was reasonable.
Why? I don't know how to describe it but, it just works. It gives the cover some kinfd of seriousness.
The arwork is hand drawn using Adobe Illustrator same as for the other book covers below.
Continuous style is used in this book cover too. The book is about people living in a small seaside town where everybody knows everybody. To empahasise the seaside town I created the sharp shape to imitate a small boat. Brown colour is for a muddy and sandy beatch.
When I was creating this final design for the Portrait of the artist as a young dog, I though that drawing a chair would be quite cool. Dylan Thomas must have spent hours sitting on that chair. Two sharp ends is a metaphore for a dog. The pastelly purple colour was not chosen for any particular reason. I thought it would compliment the previous covers quite well but if you want the reason I can make one up.....the purple colour is for the red wine Dylan Thomas liked a lot. :)
